The Craftsmen
Bunyan & Breeze is the collaboration of two craftsmen — Andy Bunyan and Andy Breeze — working from a forge in Oxfordshire with a shared belief that metal can capture life in a way no other material can.
Andy Bunyan brings a craftsman's precision to the forge — a foundation in Mechanical Engineering and a long career in industry, now channelled into the craft that first excited him as a young craftsman. Andy Breeze is the artist of the partnership, combining metalwork with a painter's eye to bring warmth and character to every finished piece.
Every piece begins with observation — hours watching birds in the garden and the hedgerows, sketching in notebooks until the character of each species is understood. Only then does the steel go into the forge.
The process is entirely handmade — hammered at the anvil, detailed with punches and chisels, finished with natural patinas. No casting, no CNC, no paint.
The Materials
Mild steel
The primary material — robust, workable, and beautiful when finished. Sheet stock is hand-selected for each piece.
Natural patinas
Colour comes from the metal itself — controlled rust, vinegar bluing, heat treatment. Never paint. The finish deepens with age.
Oil sealing
Every piece is sealed with protective oil, allowing the natural character of the steel to show while preserving it for decades.
Copper & brass
Used for accent detail on selected pieces — adding colour and warmth through inlay rather than surface treatment.
